4 worst places to attend a free webinar

One of the most valuable benefits of a webinar is that you can attend one while on the go. Whether you’re travelling or you’re at work, one can tune into webinars from almost anywhere, provided you have access to a PC/laptop and an internet connection.

An office is the ideal place to attend one, but often we find ourselves attending a free webinar while not in an office environment. If you’re seeking an ‘office outside the office’, here are 5 places you should definitely avoid —
•    In bed — the bed often makes for the most comfortable spot at home, and it’s difficult to resist spending most of your time there; but using free webinar hosting platforms in bed is far from ideal. The problem with working in bed is that because of the comfort it provides, it makes one drowsy and sleepy, and when in such a state it becomes quite difficult to stay focused and productive.

•    A crowded restaurant — a large crop of people go to Starbucks and other coffee shops for work, as they have access to WiFi and can proceed with their work at their own pace. But coffee shops can often be quite noisy and possibly distracting. Hence, attending a webinar free of cost at a crowded restaurant might not always be a good idea, and you yourself may prove to be a distraction for the others. If the webinar you’re attending is more audio content based, then the lack of privacy in a restaurant may hinder listening.

•    Public transport — again, the lack of privacy in public transport hinders your webinar experience. Firstly, in most cases, public transport doesn’t provide access to an internet connection, so you will have to rely on your own data plan. It’s difficult to focus on what the presenter is talking about while being squeezed in next to a total stranger.

•    A library — although libraries are places that are traditionally very quiet, the librarians intend to keep it that way. If the webinar you’re attending allows for the audience to communicate using audio tools, using them would cause great disturbance to the people in the library. Not only will you get nasty looks if you do so, you might just be asked to leave too.

Try avoiding the aforementioned locations while tuning into a free webinar. If you want the best webinar experience, tune in to it in places like a private conference room or your home office, where you can do so with the highest levels of concentration and focus.
